Well with 2009 around the corner, everyone is looking forward to making more money than ever before online and i really don't blame them. I'm sure there will be more methods, books and systems which help even more people get into the world of IM.

But for me, im out. I'm sick and im tried of the lifestyle i lead. IM has opened my eyes, but it almost destroyed everything i am.

So who else is out of the IM game? Sure, i'll miss the money. But i'm sure i'll be alot happier! (well, unless someone got me a lambo :p). This all started as hobby but it slowly took over both my time and my life. I never ever though i'd live this sort of life, and i almost hate myself for it!

I know a few people will think its a silly decision to make, and a few will be glad i'll be going, but is any one else using 2009 to concentrate on other things?

Either way, to those in IM and those not, best of luck in 2009. It really will be the best year ever for those on BHW, so enjoy the ride ;)

Yeah it feels like shit making money online, the lifestyle is poor, stuck on a computer. It's better to get a 9-5 job.

how;s it better lol :) Get a routine. Treat your online IM as a 9-5 job. As soon as 5pm comes shut down ur computer and fuckoff

Basically, what I've learned in 2008 I'm gonna apply with full force in 2009. Huge plans...but I really have nothing but plans right now.

You should have a long term plan to work hard for a while (months or years), then eventually have everything automated where you can make x amount of money whether you put in 12 hours a month or 12 hours a day. Then, you can do whatever you want to with life.

But automated or not, i still worry about everything. I hate relying on others as they always disapoint me. Whenever i outsource articles/websites, they are always of an inferior quality and i could have done a better job myself. That however means more time. Which i simply do not have.

I'd rather do something that leaves a lasting impression. Although you can argue that IM does, i'd rather be doing marine conservation or helping develop communities. All this stuff is free, but i'm sure i'd feel better at the end of a day than i do now!

IM literally sucks the life from my body at the moment!

Of course i'll be back, but i won't be around for the IM part of things. Only to help people out with little things and for the banter.

im the opposite and plan to start IM fulltime in 09 with big plans, its going to be nice being able to vacation and work from other places than home/workplace, have the money needed to do things like that, and not have to deal with a lame boss like iv always had.

I think the lifestyle of a 9-5 job is shit. waking up to the same routine every week. i'd rather wake up whenever i want, make money through the countless ways online, and live the free lifestyle of not having to answer to anyone but myself.

I feel your thoughts. Im doing this to prevent getting into 9-5 :P but i must say it has completely taken over my days all i do is sit @ comp ( well i must say i wouldn't being doing anything else tho :O)

But because i started im gonna finish this and now that i got some new resources i think i can do this.

As for that relying on others when you don't have knowledge your self etc sucks balls tbh :/

And second thing is that with these computers you cant be 100% sure something works :D

today's problems so far : Myscpace friend blaster crashes straigh after login
dam slow proxies takes minute to load some website :P

well im getting hang of it tho ...

But best of luck for you and may we see again its good to take some break GL HF

I don't think I'll ever hang up my im boots because I find it kinda fun. There are not a lot of actual jobs where you can "Write your own paycheck". No degree req. and you get paid based on skill and luck alone. I think it's awesome

There are other jobs like that, and thats how i keep a meal on the table. IM is fun, but it just isn't for me anymore. I know exactly what you mean though!

it really is a shame you need qualifications and degrees these days. It seems the best opportunities can be taken by anyone and those who are highly educated can be blind to see them because of "the system" they have been brought up in!

Kinda ironic really!

let's see...

* idiot bosses.
* moronic co-irkers.
* lousy pay.
* overtime hours without overtime pay.
* two-hour commute every day.
* putting up with crappy weather.

vs.

* doing your own thing.

yep... that's a tuff one.... :D

For me, passion is everything. If you're not passionate about IM anymore then its time to change stuff up. Me... I LOVE WHAT I DO. I have people here in the philippines that work hard and do well with my stuff and I want to give back to my country and the world as soon as I retire by age 35. I try to do small things now, but I want a foundation or a place where I can really help out.. I need resources and experience to get that done though. That's what I'm doing now

IM you see, will set you free!

It is not IM which is the problem for you guys having difficulty but your own attitudes!

RE-THINK it and start over!

I am well above the average age of the members of this forum, have NOTHING to talk about with people my own age because they are for the most part, internet illiterates and I LOVE IT!

People, I got FOUR boxes running at all times!

I have AIM, SKYPE, MSN and three emails open 12-16 hours a day.

I now have clients, associates and affiliates on SIX continents!

Who woulda thunk it?

I get to chat with really wonderful people in many different countries, I get to help them do biz, thus bringing different parts of the world closer together and make a few bucks doing it!

I wear a tie when I want or not, I go to lunch where I want, I can actually afford to take a cab home from the bar if I imbibe too much, my dogs are fed better than 80% of the human beings on the planet, and I can take care of my family.

The key is to not become obsessed.

I did once and it made me sick; so sick that I almost died.

Let it flow!

Man, IM is not the future; it is NOW!

It transcends politics, religion, dogma and everything that you thought you knew!

Back off for a few days; the internet will be there when you get back.

Do you really want to flip burgers at Fatburger?

Do you really want to be told what to do by some sanctimonious asshole Jr, Executive Yuppie who got a B.S. because he couldn't do anything else?

IM has set me free and now that I have gone Black, I will NEVER go back!

I'm personally expecting a few K from a couple projects I've got running on january and I'll be founding a company(I'll use john...) and hopefully start a lot of projects I've got on hold due to the lack of a company.

Now, Jammie, it's true IM can suck the life out of you(take it from me, a person that sometimes get's so absorbed in the current IM/programming task that forgets to go to the bathroom or eat or sleep) but you can always put an schedule and problem solved. Don't leave IM, you will most likely regret having taken such decision.

This to me sounds like a classic case of limiting yourself to one income stream. You say that the articles are always of an inferior quality. Have you ever heard the old saying, you get what you pay for?

I cannot force you to want to continue in 09, this is a decision that you will have to make on your own. But I can say, that you are way to smart, not to be able to succeed in this game.

I read about some of the things people can do on this forum and on the internet in general and I am in awe. From Php coding, to C++, to all that other space-age shit. And I say to myself. Damn if I knew half of this shit, I would be rich beyond my wildest dreams.

I am dead serious when I say this. There have been pieces of posts from people who you might say are stone code idiots, that I have learned something from and made money with, using their posts in conjunction with another, or actually taking the time to sit down and think how can I make this better.

The foundations of a lot of sweet shit have already been laid down by some of the elder members here. And I know people hate hearing this but the search feature is actually your friend.

Theres a saying, that there is nothing new under the sun-- well here, theres nothing new under Harro & Havok!

If you just combine some of the shit these two say--- mix it in with one off the wall thing some idiot says------>(me)------> And you would have never made this post. :D

Btw--I'm not the only idiot but you get my point.

To sum this ebook up. In life there are Masters & Slaves. You may be more familiar with the current age term of Employer and Employees.

A Master will never strive to do a Slaves work, and a Slave will never strive to be greater than his master.

So basically if you want to give up setting your own hours and living freely. Go right ahead. But like I said earlier-- your too smart!

You have to keep searching for decent talent which meets your criteria.
As for quitting IM, I can see where you are coming from, it can be isolating from other people (which can drive you nuts) inconsistent income (especially if your just black hatting) Have you only been making money online using the blackhat techniques?

amen brother !

IM is not for everyone I guess.

I for one am gonna go berserk with IM in '09! But my end goal for the year is to get other people/computers to do most of the work for me. Heck, I might not get paid the money I could if I were to put my skills (once they're developed) to full use and do the work myself, but considering my spending is modest I'm fine with a couple grand per month, however I am aiming higher, alot higher.

Plus, I'll be kickin' it in Malaysia for a few months so it'll be great! Earning dollars, spending pesos. Yeah I know, that's not the currency over there ^_^

Good luck with your 9-5! I've never enjoyed that kind of work, I love my freedom too much.

well said!

but yea i can see how this can sap the life from you. it does get addicting especially when u don't want to make less than you have previously made. but its really all just about balancing. if u focus too much on one area u will lose focus in another (in this case life outside of bhing). but i think u can make it work, i bet u could easily set up something where u barely need to touch it and u will make money off it (prolly less than what you are used to making but atleast u get more time to develope the other sides of life).

i really hope this doesnt happen to me. maybe u are just burnt out and need to take a break/vacation. or maybe u should make a final push to get a stable income source placed that someone else can manage for u. anyway hope the new year is uphill for us all
