WhoisGuard ?

I'm not sure what's the reason behind this but I purchased a domain with namecheap since they offer free whoisguard for the purchased domains.

The whoisguard is ON and it shows protected if you check on domaintools yet if you're checking the domain info on dnsstuff dot com you can very see your domain info not protected at all. It's been 5 days since namecheap tells me that is part of DNS agregation etc, did it take that long to anyone else?

Perhaps dnsstuff does some sort of caching to avoid privacy? I just checked one of my godaddy domains and see that it also isnt protected

Ah, I was about to ask about checking your own domains for that. So it looks like you're not protected at all with the whoisguard? All that someone needs to do to find out your domain registration info is to check on dnsstuff instead of domaintools and your info is right there not hidden...that is some bad news.

Domaintools is usually reliable so namecheap's explanation may be right but 5 days is a long time.

I checked my domains on dnsstuff and the whois data is private

With Namecheap you have to choose a WhoIsGuard account to use (given free when you register a domain for the first year) for your new domain. Just checking that you did this step 'cause it works for me?

Anyways I did a test, purchased a fresh domain from namecheap, enabled the whoisguard for this one too, checked on both domaintools and dnsstuff, the whois data is protected on both this time for the new domain..Still for the older one the whois info is very showing at dnsstuff dot com.

Their online support has no clue why this is happening and told me to submit a support ticket to their domain tech department which I just did, will see....

I just checked my hostgator and goddady domains ,all of them protected

Namecheap domain tech support was fast.
They said it is probably dnsstuff dot com's cache, they probably cached the domain info and didn't updated in the last 5 days etc, it does make sense to me.
