I use to always use whois.net .. but lately everytime I try to go there it either takes forever to load.. or sometimes doesn't even load at all.

    Code:
    Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
    not sure what's up.

before that I used godaddy and stopped after someone purchased a domain name I searched for the same day.. found that out when I went back to buy it like 3 days later. so I'll never use godaddy again.

but anyways.. what do you guys use?

I have used whoisbucket.com for a long time. Pretty clear and quick results.

I use whois.sc, but usually search at domize.com first and only check the whois just before buying. I'm paranoid about people spying on whois checks.
