    ---- THREAD CLOSED 02/11/2016 ----
I was reminiscing with a couple co-workers yesterday about high school (secondary school, grades 9-12, etc). Interested to know what you guys were in high school.

    Here's my story:

I was the loser nobody for the first two years, thin as a rail with stupid clothing styles and outlandish ideas. I wasn't bullied, but I wasn't liked. Just floating around in the crowd. Participated in clubs and sports and things but didn't excel at them. Got straight A's and had glasses, so was pegged as a nerd. Spent my weekends writing stories on my old Windows 98 and helping my parents around the house.

I decided to turn it around after a life-altering event. My junior and senior year I was student body president, leader of the school band, on two varsity sports teams, was part of about ten clubs, and was yearbook editor. I fit in with everyone but still I had no real friends. In my eyes, I was still the loser.

There was this one girl, though, in my senior year. She was the "popular" girl at school. I still felt like the loser nobody. A year younger than me, excelled at everything she did, drove a convertible, and had tons of friends. She was blonde and tan with a dazzling smile, a bubbling personality, and perfect D-cups. We had the same sarcastic personality, and bonded over the first part of the school year.

She was my running mate for student body president that year. She had a lot of the same classes I did, and sat next to me in all of them. She was my chemistry partner. But she had this shit-head redneck boyfriend, and I had this quiet, emo girlfriend from another school. Neither of our romantic relationships were that great at all. Her boyfriend was verbally abusive and overprotective, and my girlfriend was... annoying and I rarely saw her.

Here's the funny thing. Her shit-head boyfriend only trusted her around one guy, and that was me. I think he still saw me as the loser nobody from freshman year, and didn't see me as a threat to their relationship. It was to the point where he knew I was a stellar writer, so he would ask me to write love notes to her and then say they were from him.

I used this information to discover her true interests and exploited this to my advantage in true blackhat style. Her and my relationship grew, and we started really enjoying each other's company in class. She introduced me to her friends, and they became my friends as well. More girls I thought were shallow and preppy, and ended up being just as hilarious and sarcastic and bubbly as her. She would joke about us dumping our bad relationships and getting together, but I would brush it off, still knowing that she was WAY out of my league.

As fate would have it, within the same week, both of our relationships ended. We decided to try hanging out outside school, and had a wonderful time. It was time to give this relationship a try. I was so fucking nervous. This was the stereotypical super-popular girl. In my eyes, I was also still the nerdy loser from years ago.

What a fucking awesome time we had.

We went on movie dates. We lost our virginities to one another. We took hikes in the mountains and had adventures with our friends. We met each other's families. Our parents became friends and we went on adventures together as a group. She started hanging out with my sister and they became good friends. We would go to the lake and hang out for hours. We would drive up the side of a mountain for miles to an abandoned development and bang like rabbits with a perfect view of mountain ranges. I would cheer her on in her volleyball matches, and she would cheer me on in my track meets.

    It was incredible.

Graduation came for me, and then college. We decided to try and make long distance work, and that the following year she would go to the same school. Long distance never works. We had a lot of arguments. A lot of teary phone calls. But long distance never works.

    Except for us.

We made it through the year and she graduated valedictorian and got a full ride to my college. We've been together for over eight years now, and married for almost three. I've got a steady corporate job and a profitable side job, and she is going to be a doctor next year. We've got a little puppy and are already looking at houses and discussing when we want to have children. We are the only relationship from our high school that is still going strong.

Sometimes life works out. Sometimes you have to power through the loser mentality and make friends with the popular girl. Sometimes the chips fall where you want them to and everything is wonderful.

    That's my story. What's yours?

I don't understand this bully bullshit. I think it only happens in the US.

In my highschool we were all like family. We made fun of each other, fights broke out now and then but at the end of the day, hands were shaken and everybody got along with each other. Hell man, nobody made an objective of his days to constantly push a weaker one around just for the fun of it...

Well, if I recall better.. some new guys tried that few times but got their lights out fast.

Nice story Sherbert, sad to hear about that bully bullshit.

Wow, that was a very interesting story, sadly my past didn't go quite as good as yours. Ive been in long distance relationships myself and you're right, they don't work. Funny thing here is I went back to my home country just for two weeks, and before that we got engaged. During those 2 weeks she had found someone else on the internet and dumped me lmao, we always got along great but she didn't like the fact that I loved, still love smoking weed. What bugged me the most in that relationship is that I gave up a lot of things while she didn't, she was also my high school crush. I am still today great friends with her mother and father, I went on vacation with her mother this summer (yes, id bang her) to me they are like family. I haven't said a word to my ex since she ended it though.

Since you managed to make it through long distance and all that your relationship has to be very strong and it's not for everyone, really happy that you two made it though.

Yeah. Unless you count a drunk almost-threesome with one of our female friends back in college. Sometimes I wish I would have "played the field" a bit more, but I don't regret it and I'm not ashamed.

I was the sarcastic asshole who everyone loved and hated at the same time.

Oh, and I also got together with a girl and that relationship ended while I was in the army, long distance relationships suck, but glad to see those things work for at least one person.

    That's gay dude.

JK though, congrats on getting the girl, that's quite a story for the grandkids one day ;)

Unlike W130SN who obviously suffers from multiple personality disorder, I really did do homeschool. Dropped out in my final year because I hated it, and I wanted to pursue the job I had at the time.

I ended up hating that job too, quit, and gave IM a try soon after that, and here I am.

I was the geek that always talked about computers, told everyone that one day computers would be everywhere. They didn't believe me!

Oh I wasn't exactly popular either.

I was the kid teachers fucking hated.

I spent most time in isolation, out of the class and on report than on it but when exams came around I would finish top in nearly every subject.

I was investigated for cheating 4 times in 1 year.

In College (16-18) it got to the point where my biology teacher thought I didn't pay attention that much that she suggested I quit, and gave me a reference and 3 job application forms for bar tending and cleaning jobs.

    I left with a A in biology.

At Uni (or college as the yanks call it) I was kicked out half way through for making gun powder in the lab, then setting on fire when someone said it wasn't gun powder. It lacked the charcoal normal gun powder has, but it was explosive...
