Who of you guys quit smoking and how did you quit?

Not a smoker here, however, I have a few fellas who managed to quit smoking for good.

One of them used the power of pure will.
Another one calculated how much he spent on cigarettes throughout his lifetime and quit right after he saw the sum (it was something insane).
The third one started running every morning. He eventually hit the plateau where he had to chose whether he wanted to increase his performance or continue smoking. He picked the first option.

Hope this helps!

I quit about two years ago. I got up one day and decided not to smoke anymore.

It was hard at first but after a couple of weeks it got easier.

Now I hardly ever want a cigarette.

I quit smoking Newport's at the beginning of the year, using a tobacco vape. I stuck with the vape for 2-3 months, and now I no longer use the vape and only smoke cannibus.

I started getting breathing problems and now I cant even run without wheezing and having chest pain, years after quitting.

Beat yourself. It's the only way. Start any sport, running, swimming, ride a bike, etc.

2 packs a day for over 40 years. Went from cigs to vaping instead. Probably saved my life. I didn't think of it as stopping smoking, more like changing brands and it worked for me. Good luck.

I had a heart attack.

Made me quit pretty fucking quickly

You are lucky! You need to take more care of you.

Good for you!

In about ten years it will be okay after you quit.

About me, I just passed to IQOS - https://uk.iqos.com - after in march this year I had a portion of a lung removed because of heavy smoking ...

its all depend on your will bro, its all about your mind which you have to control.

20 years ago i was smoking 60 a day.If i hadn't stopped then i doubt i would be here to write this reply.Seriously though i had 2 young kids that i wanted to be a dad to for a very long time and see them grow up and have their own kids. I used to put £10 a day away in a jar and after 6 months i used the money i used to spend on cigarettes to take me my wife and two boys on our first cruise. Put the money away you spend on cigarettes daily and use it for something more rewarding.

Was smoking for more than 8 years ! half pack a day !

stopped it because of Vipassana

Half a pack is light change, try a whole pack. It's easy to quit at 10 cigarettes a day.

I went cold turkey and quit, it was a rough time. Then I smoked a cigar at a wedding and "relapsed". Started buying swisher sweets every week, and then moved back into cigarettes shortly after. What helped me get off the second time was using a vape pen. I vaped for like 2 years, before one day I just decided I wanted to stop, and then did that cold turkey. I don't really have any advice, other than just distract yourself and power through the discomfort, it's only temporary and will pass eventually.

Thanks to all for your helpful answers and for sharing your experiences. Some of these hard stories really get me motivated to quit smoking right now, before it's too late.

Everybody that vape needs to realize it safer than cigs but still harmful.

Some dude did a test on youtube with cotton balls

I smoke by the way. Looking to quit.

My problem is when I drink
