can anyone tell me what the correct fugure is for when researching a product and the amount of searches perfomed and also the competition.....

Ive read a few notes on the forum now and everyone seems to have a different opinion based on their experiences....

When im researching a product, what is the minumum amount of searches per month on that product am i looking for??

Also, what is the maxumum number of competing pages that you would want. Obviously im niche hunting, but without a specific idea of what to look for im unable to pick out a priduct..can anyone have the answer ti this??

Well its not an exact science, but you probably don't want millions of site with the same keyword, maybe something under 500,000 or so.

Then you probably want something with 5,000-10,000 monthly searches. Last of all, you want to go against sites with fewest page backlinks, maybe 50 or lower. You can create 50 backlinks pretty fast with some automatic social bookmarking.

The one thing to try and avoid in your niche is if you see the big boys in there as your competition like amazon and ebay and any big player with lots of domain backlinks. If you see mostly blogs and unknown websites, then you can probably go for it

i think this some what subjective....obviously someone needs to want, search for, your product...how many searches? well that depends on how focused your are to your niche. I guess you could have 50 seaches for 100 differant niches and cleanup in those niches.

as far as comp...with an exact phrase I think any thing over say 10,000, maybe try different term. i would use market samurai or seonuke for your research.

    mmmm

see i have a product selected, which only gets 500 searches per month, but it is very specific item, not something that you would search for unless you were specifically looking for this particular brand and model number....

The prices are $300 and up and i get 10-15% of the sales.

There are 60,000 competing pages in "" and 1.5m without "which is really weird seeing more competition WITHOUT quotes"....i

i put site up 2 weeks ago and i am on page 2 for keyword. not sure if there is enough searches though....what you think??

not really...the term great flavored dog food...google will return all pages with any of these words but "great flavored dog food" will only return pages with that phrase in the page or if you did a search with allintitle:"great flavored dog food" you would get less results. doing this type of research you can find out how much real comp you have
