I started a year and a half ago. Put 16 hours a day into it learning everything I could.
First few months: doubled my money. Next few months: lost 75% of my money.
Rest of the year: hovered around breakeven then slowly started growing.
Seems like most have the same story, unless they lost all their money upfront and went out of the game.
Key is to have hard rules (a couple different strategies) and risk management (e.g risk no more than x% on a trade).
Now that I've got a consistently profitable strategy (held up over six months), it's all good. The thing is - you never know if in a given month you're going to double your money, or lose 10% of your portfolio. It's all about the market conditions.
Basically, I see it as a nice side hustle - 10-30 minutes a day, with potential for big breaks.
However, unless you have a relatively big stack - $30K+ USD to trade with - you're not going to make a significant profit without taking huge risks (which means you're going to lose it all someday).
