I think I used a bad strumming pattern for this song :/ Once I get a new mic, I'll be able to actually record songs instead of improving them in front of a camera.

    Thanks for your input! :D

Anyone can do it ;) I taught myself. Learn 10 chords and some strumming patterns and you're set for acoustic

Don't point the guitar sound hole at the microphone when you record.

Don't pound on the chords - consider a lighter pick. (I suggest a Dunlop USA Nylon .46 MM)

    Work on your tempo.

If you're going to play hip hop acoustically, the emphasis is on the voicing.

Your voice has a pretty good natural timbre. It doesn't sound like the air is comming out right. Try screaming louder acoustic chord songs first like "Summer of 69" or GooGooDolls "Here is Gone".

do it more like this guy:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cL9C-p78vQ

notice his mic setup and the way he goes really light on the guitar pre-chorus.

    other guitar inspiration:

follow these steps, and girls will have sex with you based on your guitar skills alone

trust me - i'm from the internet

Thank you very much for the tips!

I actually wasn't using a pick in this video, as the only ones I could find were heavies. I'm also using Elixer Polyweb strings that sound great, but also have a loud ring to them, like other similar coated strings.

My voice got drowned out a lot when I had to look at the lyrics during the first verse >.<

I'm hoping to invest in a quality condenser mic so I will be able to get a better sound. The mic built into my Flip camcorder doesn't cut it anymore :p

Thanks again for the great post. I'll use some of those tips next time I record :)

    +rep and +thx to you

Well - I didn't really like your video but i snooped around your youtube and found some other videos you had some offers on, and snooped how you were promoting them. Some of your ideas are pretty good ;)

Haha it's all good! Thank you for your opinion. I like the upbeat style and just having fun with it, so I'm not all too worried about how great my voice sounds. Autotune is for people who are too lazy to try to teach themselves to sing. It takes time, but you pick up as you go along
