Well, i just got my diving society membership today which i thought was pretty cool, so i figured some people here must dive.

Who here dives? And how long have you been diving?

I've only been diving a few months, but i LOVE it! even in the freezing english waters!

Check the nick. :)

10 years.

Try the meditteranean if you get a chance. Some amazing dives available in the greek isles. I also HIGHLY recommend Belize and Cozumel, Mexico. Inexpensive, perfect water, amazing.

Welcome to the fraternity. ;)

heh, i guess it'll be worth the cold harsh UK weather in the end.

What sorta diving do you prefer? i've never done any wrecks (yet!), but i'd love to do something like that!

My favorite are the cenote dives in Mexico. Basically undergroud river/tunnel systems. But that's pretty advanced stuff.

Wreck dives are fun. There are some great ones in the carribean that aren't too deep/tight for a beginner but be sure to get wreck training; it's a whole different world.

My favorite spot is Cozumel though. I love the wall dives there. The drop off is 2k feet. Nothing between you and Cuba except 100 miles of deep ocean. It's fantastic.

Basically I just love being underwater. Doesn't matter to me where. :)

Oh, and if you ever get to the states, go to Florida and do a manatee/dolphin dive. that's a manatee in my avatar. Fantastic creatures!

I am PADI certified open water, next year i think I'll get my advanced open water

I'm also PADI certified, although I haven't been diving much the past few years. Molokini Crater off of Maui is my favorite spot - lots of sea life & great visibility.

ScubaSlick - where did you dive in Greece? I was going to do a dive in Santorini until my wife found out that the dive boat was a Zodiac and pussed out.

I am certified, but have not had the chance since I was at Uni.

Actually Santorini was one of them, the water is nice but not a whole lot of structure. Corvos and Paliakotsis (sp?) were better imo. Corvos has some beach dives that are cool. Palia has some good wrecks (fighter planes and such).

I was scheduled for an archeo dive off Rhodes but the government came out and made us come up after about 20 minutes. They're VERY touchy about cultural heritage protection, which is cool but a bit frustrating if you get your hopes up.

Also did a wreck off Lesbos a wooden Venecian freighter, very cool.

Only problem I had actually was staying sober enough to dive safely :). I was there for a friend's wedding on Santorini in May. Perfect weather, perfect atmosphere, amazing people.

You can't go wrong. :)

Hey Guys! Ive uploaded a great video of a night dive in Hawaii with Manta Rays. Its shot in HD, really a nice video.

very very nice - i miss diving havent done it for a while now

I have only dove once, but I did it in Hawaii.

It was one of the best times I have had. The water was crystal clear, so you could see the bottom perfectly from the top of the water. We were able to swim with sea turtles, and saw quite a number of exotic fish and eels.

I highly recommend it to anyone, and I plan on getting certified at some point.
