100k visitors a month isn't all that much, pretty much any server can handle that.

100k visitors a day is a different story, but you'd still expect a decent dedi to be able to handle it without too many issues.

I had a site hosted on a Business Plan at Hostgator and got around 2300+ Visitors per day but unfortunately my account was suspended and need to upgrade it to VPS/Dedicated and I dint have much money to spend on it. So that the reason I need suggestion from you guys that if you are also getting this much of traffic daily and you dint get a problem yet then please suggest me where you hosted and which package you are in.

Oh if I only knew then what I know now... I ran a game that was getting 80-125k pageviews daily (on a dedicated Linux server using PHP with SQL - I crashed a Windows server daily when we were only getting 25-40k a day using ASP and Access) This was almost 10 years ago.

Funny thing is that I still own the domain and now have some niche marketing articles on it... STILL getting some visits daily from very old backlinks.

I get around 80k+ visits per month with over twice as many page views. I was running this on shared hosting without problems for a couple months before switching to a VPS (my choice to switch).

Did they say that it is suspended because of that traffic. I had a site hosted on hostgator too (baby plan) and getting an average of 4000 Uniques daily with almost 6000 pageviews. I never experience this kind of problem.

2300+ visitors/day is not that much. Hostgator can easily handle that. Seems like they may have suspended your account for another reason...

vps with 512 MB - 2 GB memory can handle such traffic, and remember to tweak your php, mysql. but depend on what kind of website

The amount of visitors per month/day is both dependant on the scripts and the server, regardless of what people are saying.

Hosting plain .html files to serve 1m+ is easy.
Hosting advanced scripts with alot of sql, perl, and php processing with <100k is easy.

Doing the advanced stuff with >100k and on a non-powerful dedicated? You're screwed. Unless you have an optimized script, your server will suffer. Unless you have an optimized server, your script will suffer. Try running an SMF forum with >4k actives a day and then a magento store with >2k products+2k visitors a day on a shared. The second one will likely get you kicked off :D
