Whats the purpose of getting content indexed, but not getting it ranked? It may get indexed, but no one will read it, and it will hurt your site's reputation in general

Conversely it can be de-indexed very easily too - why take the risk when G are all over the SE index these days:eek:

Anything can get indexed but it won't help you at all lol. It's like buying a hot rod when you live in rural upstate NY. You'll think you're the shat, but so few people will actually see you in it that it'll prove to be a ridiculous waste of money.

It depends on the features of the site. For instance, last year, someone autoblogged my articles. He had no ads on his abandoned site. After Penguin update, he started outranking me. What was my fault? One adsense ad between each of the posts and hundred of backlinks I was getting everyday from a blogroll and that was also without my knowledge. But we had the same template. He had thousands of other articles which he stole while mine were purely original. I worked day and night to make make them as useful as possible for my readers. Now they have disappeared from serps.

Google will index it. It can't figure out that it's duplicate content until its spider visits the site and indexes the content. But, what will most likely occur is that Google will not give you any credit for the content. If you site is all duplicate content then Google will penalize you.

pretty much everything will almost get indexed if you want it too, doesn't mean anything though will be cached

It can be indexed and it can even be decently ranked, but unless you do some worthwhile backlinking it won't rank for very long.

Indexing stuff is not difficult - just submit a sitemap to GWT. That's really all it takes for a half-decent site. Getting stuff to rank for the long term is the real challenge.

Yeah like I give a single fuck about the amount of posts I have. The point of my post was to let you know that you're a misinformed noob for the following reasons:

    1. I don't recall anyone saying that dupe content can't get indexed.
    2. As johandr said, what is the point of getting this kind of content indexed if it will not rank and it will actually hurt your site.

Point me to the thread where you got this info from. And I'll get my 'head out of my ass', even though this is quite impossible.

Your the exact type of guys that think your an Seo GOD.Does google text you when you put some dupe content up saying"Hi sir your rankings will drop today" You dont work for google so don't go around saying this works and that works and that doesn't work.

    Hi majikz10,

This is an interesting experiment and it's good to talk about Duplicate Content and what it really is and the impact.

Google is pretty clear and specific about what they classify duplicate content to be and as such, we should all be very aware of that and how it can impact our sites and the internet as a whole.

    - "substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar. Mostly, this is not deceptive in origin. Examples of non-malicious duplicate content could include:

Discussion forums that can generate both regular and stripped-down pages targeted at mobile devices
Store items shown or linked via multiple distinct URLs
    Printer-only versions of web pages"

Google is also first a search engine, as as such, they won't know if a page is duplicated, until it is crawled and by crawling it will index the content initially. So, your experiment, while revealing, is not surprising as that is what Google does, indexes content. What is important to consider is the last impact and whether Google will determine that your site is engaged tactics that will warrant a ban later.

While older, this article points to the idea that some content may be prevented from indexing if it is duplicated, but it is the rare case that this will happen. I think that Google doesn't mind seeing where your site will go over time, understand your behaviors, then penalize later if additional content provided is duplicated. While insidious to think that they would do that, it would not surprise me.

    Hope that helps!

    Shawn

Should I take that as a compliment or...? I believe the correct term is: 'SEO Guru'. No, I'm not an SEO guru nor do I think I am. I have simply done a lot of testing, and my results are expressed in my posts.

So, where is the thread you got your info from? I would really like you to hurry, as I would like to get my head out of my ass.
