I really <3 artisteer, but there are SOME limitations which irk me...

The main limitation is that i cannot mod the original templates it is working off with...

Eg., say, i want to mod so ALL themes made use

H1 as posting title...and not fricking the SITE NAME in H1 as every wordpress site does <---- stupidest thing ever

Secondly, i need to mod categories page and search page so they only show excerpts.

Artisteer has all those things encrypted - so you can only mod the final result - but not the template BEFOREHAND.

Otherwise i really, really like artisteer.

Is there a way to de-crypt the templates so i can edit that base stuff before i make themes with artisteer?

you can change the H1 tag. Look in:

    C:\Program Files\Artisteer\Library\Data\Templates\WordPress\Export\Files

you will see the template pages it uses. open the page.php and you will see they have the page title set to H2. Just change it.

you can do the same with the search page and categories

Also you might want to take the bit out of the footer as well.

    :)

What things need to be changed, to make google robot and all others more friendly to the templates made by artisteer?

well yes, sure. You're modding the EXPORT, thats already the finished theme after you created it.

But i dont want to do this for every theme i create!

I want to mod what Artisteer uses beforehand so i use artisteer and it already comes out modded :)

Same thing with the stupid RSS icon in the FOOTER and things like that, and you can't change this, only after you exported it...

Mate, he's telling you to mod the export files. These are the files that are generated on export.

You can change the RSS icon by going to footer--> rss icon and uploading one from a file. You can change the footer in the same manner the mate just suggested [it may not look like changes are made at first, but they do get made in the final outcome] I haven't modded the h1 tags myself, but have certainly played around with the footer with ease.

I tried using Artisteer yesterday for a WP theme and and I really liked the results until I noticed today that articles were showing up in the sidebar and the sidebar stuff was pushed down to the bottom. Can anybody help me to fix that?

    Thanks Much!!

Artisteer is great, but if you do not know what you are doing, it will be a pain.

uhm...a monkey can make a template, you can just let it generate some by pressing that randomizer button....SOME of them even look good, i am not even kidding.

The coolest thing, it also creates drupal templates (my main site still running on drupal)...so i finally got "my" dream template because i made one with artisteer for my drupal site. And for my autoblogs and other WP blogs, i think its good.
(I'd even say its GREAT if you do so much blog building like i do - a good template is the base for a good blog and you can make them with Artisteer and a LITTLE tweaking afterwards if you want to finetune things for SEO)

I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and have even sold some sites using templates that I have created with the software.

My only real gripe with it is incorrect CSS code for IE6 (which you can fix by tweaking the CSS file yourself which is annoying) and I don't really care for the large size of CSS files. Before using artisteer, I had never seen one over 10kB, but most of the ones it generates are around 25kB (not a big deal I guess, but whatever).

For myself, I don't rely on the software to create the finished product, but rather create a "rough draft" that I can tweak to my liking. It definitely does that, and I am happy with my investment (though it still has a ways to go to be perfect ;) )

you have to use a </div> tag close after using MORE TAG, close your divs tag. Yes a monkey can build a template, but one cannot manage it.
