I haven't used chat in 5+ years, but when I did, I used Trillion (if it is still around). I primarily used MSN as many people had Hotmail accounts.

Given I haven't used it in a very long time, ICQ has seen its day but if that is what your contacts use, then that is a good one as well.

Skype is good for video but many do not use it.

Those with AIM accounts is getting fewer and fewer.

With all of that said, if I went back to chat, it would be with MSN or Google.

skype cause ppl can't spam you w/out you adding them first. plus, how it keeps chat records is very useful.
only downside - terrible over mobile devices

It depends on what you mean by better but it seems like most people on BHW use skype so if you're looking to network with people here - go for that.

Man, I look at AIM's design and I think back to when I was in intermediate school and having AIM was all the rage (albeit, that was only 6 or 7 years ago). The design alone bugs me which is one reason I stick with Skype, as it is sleek and stylish. Plus the interface is nice; seems it confuses some people, but I design software so...takes a lot to confuse me.

I still use AIM because a lot of my important contacts are on there and it seems lots more CPA's use AIM than Skype. However, as far as people from the forum or any forum really, I get like 5 Skype requests for every 1 AIM message. Probably even more skewed than that. Really, I only get a spontaneous AIM message every few days but Skype requests every day and both contact methods are openly available in my profile.

Can't really say much about Yahoo or anything else. I see no reason to as I've never had someone ask for my Yahoo or Google Talk name. If they did, though, I'm sure they'd also have a Skype or AIM name and I would just ask them to use either one of those instead.

There is really not one better than the other, chat clients go in trends just like social networking sites do. It really boils down on who you are wanting to talk to and what they use.

Me personally I use google chat, just because it sits in my browser and most people in business use it. I still MIRC, whether it is old or not. I learned more from that place than any forum on the net.
