Well as the title suggests. I haven't downloaded much music in a while, and I was setting up my new desktop the last few days, and I went to install Lime Wire and it looks like they were shut down along with others.

Any suggestions on software to use? I know I could always get torrents of full albums, but I really dont want full albums just songs here and their.

For singles, the best place is beemp3.com. Great website. No tools or viruses.

For albums, torrentz or MediaFire searches.

Or you can just type something like this in Google:

    "Name of the song" zippyshare

    for example: "Bad Romance zippyshare"

Then you can listen & download for free :)

If you can get into What.cd I'd recommend it.

Some really great free suggestions in this post.
I think the firefox addon suggestion is very useful
Personally, I like to download the video itself using Internet Download Manager and the convert using AOA also.

    Alternatively,
Rapidshare is €5.99 per month but you can get literally Anything on fora like warez-bb and other places.

    Kind regards,

    Jack

I simply type the whole song title out and put mediafire behind.

    Example:
    Marilyn Manson - Mobscene.mp3 mediafire

You can put 4shared, rapidshare, or whatever behind too. It works for me.
Filestube.com is a good file searcher too.

use frostwire instead of limewire (limewire also has a modified version which still works) if you want to download single songs only or you can search on google: 'performer song title mp3', most likely google will find it on a filehosting website, especially if it's popular

or just use the already suggested itunes, it's not that expensive

I use vuze but there are other torrent clients where you can choose certain songs from albums rather than downloading the whole album.
You can sort of do it with vuze by setting the song you want as high priority then stop the download once its done or just cancel all the other songs in the album

I grab the Youtube video file with clipnabber and then use AOA to extract the mp3.

But I mostly listen to grooveshark while working.

This sounds crazy but I don't do it anymore if I want to listen to a single song now, I just listen to it on Spotify or Youtube.

The Russian torrent sites are excellent.

I used to be a member of What.CD and I found a lot of my uploads were snatched and put on these sites.

And you can use CueTools to check the quality of the lossless rips.
