White or black hat method to find out where a website is hosted from?

    What the title says, trying to figure out where my competitor doing offshore hosting.

    1) Check the whois info, unless they are using anonymous nameservers then they will have the nameservers listed, it is easy to find the host if you know the nameservers.

    2) Just look up the IP of the website. You can use the unix "host" command or you can just look it up at a whois site like http://whois.domaintools.com/ From there you can do a whois on the IP address to tell you who owns it (ie the host).

    3) If you want to know what country the domain is hosted in, look up the IP at http://www.ip2location.com/free.asp
