I have tested a lot with web2.0 in the past couple months and I found that most of them dont work.

Some of them put the content to noindex / nofollow or block bots via robots.txt

Others get indexed and have follow links but for some reason the links dont count. For example I built a couple of wix.com sites. I throwed in links with anchor text = "long anchor text phrase"

Usually when you later search for "long anchor text phrase" you then find of course the web20 site because "long anchor text phrase" is part of the content. But you also find your money site because google considers it relevant for "long anchor text phrase" because that is were the link goes to.

This is not the case for wix and weebly for example even if the links are indexed for a long time.

Long story short: For me I only found wordpress and tumblr to work. The rest was useless.

    Which web2.0 worked for you?

Your web 2.0s need to be indexed and links followed in order to have a positive effect. There's no harm in having a couple of nofollow web 2.0s in order to diversify your link profile a little.

Are you building a tier 2-3 to the web 2.0s?

If not they wont do much if you target medium+ comp keywords.

I misread your post. I thought you were asking for advise pertaining to web 2.0 types in general.

As asap1 said, you need to build links to your web 2.0s else they're pretty much useless unless you're ranking for something with literally no comp.

All tier one links need a strong supporting tier.
Personally that's where I stop though others add a third then spam a massive 4th in the form of an indexing tier. I've never done that nor needed to. But the guys above a correct, treat your tier one links with great care, add to them, nurture them, backlink them and they will power up your money site over time.

Never advised every link in tier one to be a WEB2.0 - that's a footprint in itself
