I was using bit.ly but I found out 1) you can't delete the shortened URLs and 2) you can't delete your account.

We use our own shortener powered by Yourls.org.

You can delete and edit (!) your links.

    Hi!
You can remove a bit.ly link from your history by opening the Options drop down menu and selecting the Archive link from the choices there (the other choices are Share, Copy, and Edit). Remember that links archived from your public history are still permanently functional and will always redirect to their original destination.

That isn't the same as deleting it. Which isn't what I want. I don't want the shortened URL to be functional - FOREVER - which is what bit.ly is all about.

I want to control the URL shortener and be able to delete its forwarding link.

If you want that level of control its probably best to put your own URL shortener together.
Thats what I ended up doing - still finishing the code off at the moment but mine will let you delete links, pause links, resume links, get stats, delete you account etc.

I just have to pull my thumb out my ass and finish the code and allow registrations :D

To be honest, making a basic URL shortener is not hard as long as you know a bit of PHP, MySQL and maybe a bit of htaccess creation :)

I'm going to bump this in hops of finding a simple solution besides making my own shortener.
