Which rank to see real traffic improvements?

Hi, recently I am about to rank a website which has a lots of m/s (about 80k only for the USA).
With this website I am ranking about 14 keywords, every keyword has about 6k m/s.

Right now ALL keywords are on page 2 on Google (on Bing some are on #1). Still google dancing though.

I see only small improvements in the traffic of this website.

Is it really that HUGE difference in traffic to be on page 1 than on page 2 ? What's your experience?

Yes.

It varies slightly from keyword to keyword, but for most searches, only about 5-10% of the search traffic ever look at page 2, much less click on your listing.

If you are on page 2, you pretty much don't exist.

Massive... I fact I don't consider page 2 to be ranking at all (just my personal opinion).

To be perfectly honest, you don't get the real traffic until top 5 positions (top 3 really).

You'll notice interesting levels in traffic as you rise up the SERPS... for instance I always find I get more traffic in pos.10 than in positions 8 or 9 as 10 seems to stand out better

Yes, there is a huge difference being on 1st or 2nd page.
