I suggest that you link to a page that is optimized by the content of your guest post.
For example, you have an e-bike website where you cover different brands, and your guest post is about problems people have with a certain brand and how to fix them.
That guest post should link to your page about that brand.
The key is to move link juice from one place to another in a targeted way.
You can't do that if you're just dumping all the link juice to your home page.
By definition, your home page will have broader coverage than your specific posts and pages.
