Misspelt twitter.com today as "twiter.com" and for a minute actually thought that this was real. What do you lot think the conversion rate for this is? Sorry if there's already a thread about this but I just thought this one was quite clever, I'm now trying to think of what sites people might misspell that have available domains to try something like this myself. If anyone's done anything similar to this, share it here, it's not like anyone can copy the idea as once you have the domain it's yours.

It's quite good how they never actually put the word "twitter" on the webpage, I'm guessing to avoid legal issues etc.

I guess you would be too late to try that. There are domain sharks out there who hire people on a full time basis to do just that ;)

Oogle.com! Very sneaky! Even uses the same kind of design on the site.

One of my favs is Maps.com

They have the subdomain "google.maps.com" which redirects directly to their website.

I know I've typed it in by accident before, I wonder whether they made any conversions.

    twiter.com(7yrs pr4) redirects to socialupdatepanel.com - pr3 alexa 82k - hosted by leaseweb on 82.192.87.51 - Jakarta - Indonesia.Domain age - 25 days (According to Whois created on 18.07.2011).

I think a design copyright infringement applies here, but guy´s hosted offshores... Let him make his money, it won´t be forever =D

Welcome to monetizing misspellings, very lucrative if you can have the foresight to buy domains of brands that will become popular in the future.
