Hey, SEOers and Bloggers, Merry Xmas to all!

I have a question about blog, I often write blog on weebly, Every time I submit my post, the weebly always remind me that I can apply for an independent domain for my blog, for example, my blog URL is my name + weebly + TLD, it tells us that I can have a domain like my name +TLD, So I wanna know which one better.

I think the third-party blog, just like blogspot, which has PR9, if I write some article on it, google will crawl my blog in soon, while a blog with independent domain, because it has any PR or authority, so I think google will crawl it in a month or longer. My opinion is right? Hope some master can clarify my confusion, any post will be appreciated! :)

In short, hosting on a blog like blogger/squidoo/weebly is probably better for the average person. Reason being you are much less likely to be penalized or effected by negative SEO (due to the high domain authority), it's completely free and often easier to get a EMD phrase in the subdomain.

The one qualifier I would use is that you use blogs with subdomains (*.tumblr.com, *.blogspot.com, etc).

Yeah, I would also go for an independent domain and hosting, slap on wordpress and then you're free to do what you want.

The thing with Squidoo or blogger or whatever is that they can close down your account whenever they feel like it, so ultimately you're not really in control of your website, and if that website is bringing you money, then you should freak out about that.

As long as you don't use adult content or CPA ads or something like that I seriously doubt you'll get dropped from your blog host.

It should be said that it is far easier for the average person to rank a tumblr subdomain than to rank a brand new domain. But yeah, the tradeoff is that you don't have root access to the blog and you're limited as to what you can do with it.

    Exactly what I'd do.

Get your own self hosted wordpress site. You can host it for cheaper than most of these sites that offer your own domain name and hosting as an add on.
