Well seeing that you mention CPC im going to assume your main monetizing method will be adsense. Rather then traffic you should also consider the phrases within the keywords which can show you what the likelihood of action is for the keywords such as buyer keywords. But since its adsense and you have to choose one guess the one with the bigger traffic.

i choose keywords which will convert first and foremost.

the other keywords i choose are the ones where people are searching to learn about the area of your niche where product(s) that you promote or sell can be exposed to these searchers, since they probably do not know that product exists.

another technique I use when doing keyword research is to look for keywords where searchers are comparing products similar to that which you promote. then i make some BS posts about how much better the product I am promoting is compared to the ones they were comparing in the first place.

learn the sales funnel. drive them down it.

    youre welcome :)

i think you must check how many publishers (through Semrush) with these keywords and then decide

There's not enough information for me to pick a keyword.

    • Who are the competitors ranking for the exact keyword? Are they authority sites or are they new sites?
    • What appears in the SERPs? Do ads and Google Entity obfuscate the organic results?
    • How does your own site compare to the sites in the SERPs?
Find the answers to those questions and then pick a keyword based on which one you can confidently rank for. If you want to take ti a step further, you can analyse the backlink profile of the sites that are ranking and compare them to your own site's profile (or you can use the Moz Toolbar if you want to quickly glance over the competition).

As mentioned by Zwielicht, there's not enough information provided by you to determine which keyword would be better to target. However, depending on the competitiveness of the search term, I'd rather take a keyword with a lower search volume and a higher CPC (That's only if I could choose one the two keywords).

Neither one. I would choose a 5k+ monthly search, medium or high Adwords competition $2+ CPC keyword.

you need to check up the competition for each kw. if it's the same competition, I'd go with an EMD of KW1 but have 1-2 articles targeting KW2

Search is not bad, competition also low but what about your competitors? If they are really strong site its hard to rank your site against them.

Think your ability to compete with them. If you can afford then go with this keyword.

Don't go with EMD. Choose a nice & brand able name in your niche but not EMD.

Both are worthless keywords. You wont be able to earn more than 15-20$/ month even if you are in the top 3.

If I were you, I would continue with both of them :) Caz, as they are low competitors and guideline keywords :)

Yes I agree with this. With keywords that low, they maybe OK if you are adding them to a site with existing traffic for other keywords, but I would not waste my time starting from scratch and building a site around them.

Also with such low search volumes, you can forget making any money at all if they are not number one. Position two you are barely going to get a visitor off them. Unless you have some super CEOSam meta title.
