Which of these slugs is the best practice for SEO?

1.) /news/2023/april/this-is-my-first-blog-post

2.) /news/this-is-my-first-blog-post

2.) /news/this-is-my-first-blog-post
This is the best practice. It gives you the freedom to keep the keywords towards the beginning of the slug. Keeping date towards the beginning does not help at all.

Obviously the second, especially since the site is a news website.

If it was a niche blog, that 'news' would most likely be a category. I would omit it and leave my URL slug as domain.com/this-is-my-first-blog-post

Both slugs are valid for SEO, but the first one is more descriptive and includes the year and month, which can help search engines understand the content better and also provide some context to the reader. Including dates can also signal to search engines that the content is fresh and updated, which can help with ranking. However, if the content is not time-sensitive or if you want to avoid the hassle of updating the slug every time you publish a new post, the second option is also fine.
Whats most important: to choose a slug that accurately describes the content and is easy to read and remember for users.

Always post name/title. -Based on my experience. Not denying a possibility I was lucky with the SEO in general that it pulled good traffic.

If there's a category present, it can also be included. (/category/post-name)
For updating your content, i usually edit and republish the post, works better than a charm.

I've seen a comment about including the date, might be, but republishing articles worked for me back in 2019.

Always keep it EMD style. Mention exactly what your post is about, it not only helps with the crawler but also slightly increases CTR (some users pay attention to the URL)
