    I'd say: squidoo > blogger > wordpress

And, getting a good domain is critical.

Use blogger, squidoo or hubpages. I actually haven't seen a wordpress blog that's being hosted on wordpress.com in the top 10 for a long time.

I'm just getting into hubpages now. I've had excellent results with Wordpress, though.

Google owns Blogger so you can't go wrong there either.

Squidoo has lots of rank. Haven't used it much though.

never really thought about this but ...

would a WP with just a new domain do the trick or would hosting make a difference?

i'm sure it shouldn't make a difference, but it probably does!

I did it with Blogger once. My content was unique and my niche was too. There wasn't a lot out there on it so I went to the top ten in 3 days.

I would say, that Blogger works just when you invest some time in the Blog and add some Backlinks.

For faster ranking, I say Squidoo/Hubpages.
