    I'd recommend Blogger.

Because it's everything Whitehat, it's loved, and owned, by Google, and of course Free and very easy to use. I mean, a lot of blogspot domains rank very high for some very competitive keywords!

    Hope that helps,
    Lynn.

For a blog WP.org (not .com since you need control over hosting which is also why you
should avoid some of the other options). Has lots of themes. Newbie friendly.

Weebly - SEO problems I think, been awhile since I checked might be ok

    Good luck :D

Blogger is the best way to blog if you don't have the budget. It is customizable and you can put ads in it unlike other free blog service.

I actually use and really like typepad... they have some basic SEO options available and there are hacking forums that show you how to include more.
