i dont want to pay the outrageous prices at godaddy auctions so this is what i have been doing by hand: find high authority pages, find broken link, check if broken domains are available, if they are available run ahrefs on them.
I understand there is a few programs to automate this whole process, one of them is expired domain miner (i remember the name because, well, it's an expired domain miner, what else would you call it?)
I understand there is a couple of other programs similar to expired domain miner.

which one is the best for finding expired domains?

Which is the best crawler will depend on a few things:

    1. how easy you want it to be - some crawlers have a bit of a learning curve
    2. how quick you want it to be
    3. what you are going to run it on - if your own PC then how fast or reliable is your internet connection and how powerful is that PC, if you are running it on a VPS then what are the extra costs involved?

Each will have good and bad points I'm sure.

Interesting question. Is there even any bots to automate this process?

You can probably only automate the part where you look for broken links using tools like Xenu Link Sleuth. You have to do the rest manually.

Scrapebox searches expired domains. So does expired domains.net

The only domain crawlers I'm aware of are DomainMiner and my product, DomRipper. I've heard good things about DomainMiner, so either would be a decent choice.

I'm testing DomRipper at the moment, so far 0 results with with the trial version... it may be the source of my URL list which was scarped by scrapebox from the competition. DomainMiner I was a beta tester and it found some great domains for me.

Still unsure what road to go, since DomRipper is monthly and Domain Miner is one of fee.
