I use Electrum for long storage and blockchain for daily use. Most wallets have an option to change the fee amount. Don't send too low fee as it will take longer to confirmed. Use this website to know the right fee bitcoinfees.earn.com.

Basically anyone that gives you a private key, so you can really OWN you cryptocurrency, like trezor or leger. Definitely not keep your money on exchanges, worst idea.

Many people suggest to use bitcoin core but I love electrum. Electrum is userfriendly
