I have just got my new site indexed, if i search the domain name excluding .co.uk or http, just the keyword/name of the site im on top page which is good.

But i didnt think this niche would be to hard to rank for, maybe im wrong?

if you search the term there are 2,410,000 results which isnt that much.

    allinanchor:keyword 1,390,000 results

    allintitle:keyword 234,000 results

I have checked a lot of site which rank on page 3 upwards for this term have very few backlinks, no more than 40.

In fact there is a site on first page which only has 60, some are directory listings and articles but not many actual links from top level sites. The site is nearly three years old, going through a few of the sites on page 8 for this term there are some sites which are nearly 8 years old.

But my site doesnt rank in top 500

Is this because Google hasnt indexed it properly or maybe because i havent got enough links yet to beat any site in top 500 cus the are old domains?

    Just want to clarify.

    • You built a site
    • It has been indexed
    • You don't rank yet
    Sound about right?

Most sites don't rank right away. Make sure your onsite SEO is good, then keep up gradual link building, and in a few days/weeks, you should start to show up.

Just is odd for me i have started a few sites before and they seem to rank somewhere in top 500. Maybe im just being inpatient cus i want this to happen really fast, lol.

Maybe the onsite seo wasnt that good when it got indexed cus it was a google sites page, (cant do much on page seo with them). I have now changed nameservers so i can actually have my own template made with dreamweaver and add Header tags, meta tags etc. Maybe that was the problem!

Exactly you won't rank right away with a new site. Like the poster above also says make sure your onsite SEO is solid like keyword in title and H1 tag. Solid meta keywords and meta description tags (don't nag on me about the keywords tag some SE's still use it).

Then building backlinks using your target keyword as anchor text. Make sure the backlinks you build are ********.

If you follow those "simple" instructions then in a while you will see your website move up in the ranks just have patience.

Yeah im trying, its just i feel for once i have discovered a niche which isnt that hard to rank for and could actually make a bit of money.

My last project was making me £180 a month, but was so hard to stay 2nd, i never even made 1st! 2nd only brought me 50 uniques a day, this niche though is almost 5 times the traffic!

Anyways guys cheers for the advice, i will keep plugging away and keep you updated!

I can safely say this is the best webmaster forum i have found, no more DP for me lol

Always remember that the search algorithms are incredibly complex and takes into account a huge portion of the worlds data.

Sometime good things happen instantly, sometime bad things happen after a long time.

I have had sites not rank for MONTHS, and sites rank #1 for a money keyword days after being launched.

Make sure you on page is ROCK SOLID, and then slowly build links.

Remember, just because your link is on a page, does not mean Google has indexed that link!

You will creep up the ranks, and before you know it be in a top position.

Use a more logical approach: are you alone in your niche? So how it should happen that established sites with many links rank worse than your newly established site w/o links, visitors, lifetime? Usually your wish won't be fulfilled by SEs.

My personal experience is that I can blast, boost, and ping a new site I make and have it indexed within 24 hours now on a consistent basis. The first 2 to 3 weeks the site endures the 'google dance' and with some aggressive link building and reinforcing a new site usually settles in the top 40 for me.

Another week of going hardcore on it and top 20 is achievable. If I get lucky and nobody else has done their job right top 10 is no problem. On at least a dozen instances in the past 3 months I have taken and held the #1 google ranking just with these same efforts and 30 to 45 days worth of work.

So dont be discouraged, just keep doing the things that work for you. Replicate and repeat.

Really with a site thats got allintitle:234,000 results?

Also just noticed this niche might not be that easy to so results so soon

    has a allinanchor:1,310,000

Anyways i might blast the internal pages as they are raning in top 80ish

Would a dropped domain that i am using affect results?

Anyways a quick update a month an a half on.

    Google.co.uk ranked - 237
    Google.com ranked - 142

Its a bit weird i have never had a .co.uk site be better ranked on google.com, maybe google.com has less competition.
