I have been doing web design and hosting for a few months now and making a little money.. i have just advertised on cl.

I have some money to spend on advertising but I dont know the best place to spend it.

    Dallas newspaper?
    Yellow pages?
    Cl Poster?
    Google Adwords?

What do you think would be the best to spend on advertising?

Start on local seo and then build up, find some nice keyword combinations with little competition, we use micro niche finder for keywords

If I were you... I would try to do the following:
    1) As mentioned by the previous posters, try SEO for your local market...
    2) Buy a newspaper advertisement in your city/town's local paper...you will be surprised how many people there are out there that want websites but lack the technical savvy to find them via the web. These types of customers are especially good because they are usually of an older demographic, which will bring much needed "word of mouth" business to your doorstep
    3) You can also try buying small business phone lists....what you would need to do in this case is find a newly brokered phone list or perhaps scrape them yourself off of yelp, yellowpages and the like. Try to target companies that will be able to acquire new business directly from the web. Create a script and start calling away!
    4) Buy media ads in trade magazines for underrepresented niche industries. What do I mean by this? For most brick and mortar industries there are a ton of trade magazines where people source their goods, buy ads in these magazines and brand yourself as a a web designer specifically catering to that industrys space.

Hope all goes well and goodluck!

Yes!! A few improvements to my on-site SEO put me on the second page of google!

Not where I want to be but hey its better that the eighth page..

Im going for number one spot I dont have hardly any competition in my town like 3 or something. I dont really think that local SEO will bring that much traffic because I live in a fairly small town but we will see.

Once I get first page for the keywords im shooting for im then going to try to work on getting first page for web design in "my state" I think it might be hard but worth a shot. I live in Oklahoma..

How hard do you think it would be to get first page in google for web design in oklahoma?

What are some things that I should do?

Im going to do some major article marketing thats the next on my list.
