I don't know if it is a dumb question but I am new to this. I want to purchase a domain name. I have tried with many domain providers and some charges $15 for a year and some charged $9.95 and some may be less. Can any one please let me know where I can purchase it cheapest.

i purchased mine from hosting24 (i paid for the hosting and the domain is free). i chose them over the rest because they offer 1-month plan that i can cancel anytime i want. so far i like their service. i haven't experienced downtime in my website yet. i've been with them for 9 months now. i got the best deal because i have used a coupon code(coupon code is code2009). i got $2 off every month so i'm paying roughly $5 per month.

If you are on a tight budget Namecheap have .info domain names for $2.98 with free privacy guard which is fairly cheap - i normally use them bcos they accept paypal. Obviously if you plan to resell the site a .com or .net will be better if you can afford it.

Search for domain name discount code / vouchers to see which is the cheapest, the big ones like godaddy and namecheap always have them.

The other day i even saw threads here where you could get 100% free domain names - do a search and see if they will help you

.co.cc domains are free. and are shit. They are subdomains and in turn are crap for SEO and many other things. They are not professional at all and it would be much better to go with a $2 .info if you have a low budget.

NEVER BUY FROM NETWORK SOLUTIONS OR REGISTER.COM

if you are just buying domains, I would avoid the hosting companies. They can get pricey.
You can usually get a free one if you sign up for their hosting plan.
And hosting companies usually run sales also, but they will try and tack on unnecessary stuff onto the purchase. If anything buy the privacy. Moniker sells it for $4 per domain

If I were to use a hosting company for purchase, I would choose GoDaddy. They run a lot of sales. Otherwise go to name cheap or moniker. I use moniker for all my domain purchases and management. I like having a separation between my hosting provider and my domain management.

    Just anal like that

Godaddy is mainly a domain registrar. With hosting being their secondary service. Same with Name Cheap and Moniker.

Also I highly reccomending never getting a domain through a hosting provider. As you will not be able to use that domain anywhere else apart from their hosting and it will be reg'd under their information, not yours.

Gotta disagree with you about Name Cheap. When I stated to use them about 2 years ago they did not do hosting (or if they did they didn't push it)

Totally agree with the separation of registration and hosting so so many horror stories about G*Daddy - man they rape you in every opening

My 2 cents worth (for what its worth)

PS BTW I am a G*Daddy Super Reseller so I have really been raped by 'em

Just bought about 10 domains on godaddy.com

PROTIP: If you buy over 5 domains at once you get free privacy protection.

    PRICE's:

You can get .info's for $1 for 1 year

Or you can get .com's for $7.49 with promo code "hash7"

*edit* dont use godaddy for hosting! only for domain register

    Yeah sucker bait.

G*daddy charges you for 2 years automatically - unless you change

Their TOS allows them to automatically renew at highest price and they charge you $8.95 per year for privacy.

Plus they can take the domain name at any time if they feel like it and you can do diddle squat about it look at their TOS

If you are serious about building an IM business keep away from them

Again my 2 cents and my experiences

hi one more thing we can't purchase without Credit Card with G*daddy I just tried purchasing a domain name with G*daddy but as soon as I checkout with Paypal. Paypal says me to add a card?

Why is this? if they accept payments from Paypal then why they ask to add a car? is it due to paypal? or anything else?

However I don't have enough funds there in Paypal so I am wondering.. why they want me to add a card?

    Name.com has free privacy

I use name and goddady. Never heard of horror stories about them.

Read the contract. If they fuck with you, call your lawyer.
