Hey all, I'm selling a few e-books that are bigger in file size. The other week my hosting shut down my site for breaching CPU which is ridiculous (especially because they couldn't tell me why). To prevent this happening again I'm being extra cautious and thinking if I host my PDF's securely outside of my website when I have bigger days of sales/traffic I won't be faced with exceeding bandwidth, discspace or having a CPU issue break my sites for days.

AmazonS3 is great but seems pretty insecure and I've looked into locking folders but I can't figure it out (it's probably a 3 step process but everything I read is pages long and I don't bother trying to figure that out). I know people will get my stuff free wherever it is, but I don't want it to just come up in search or be easy for anyone to access!

Any suggestions on external hosting I can put my e-books that's secure?

Media fire with a password ? Anyhow, people downloading Ebooks shouldn't shutdown your hosting. Do you have any resource intensive scripts running too?

I linked up extra traffic to my site the day it was shutdown for breaching CPU (stupid spam traffic from China). However two things: 1. 99% of images on my site are hosted on AmazonS3 (everything else is text). and 2. Sales weren't higher that day so it was only spam traffic to my home page. My hosting couldn't tell me why I breached CPU and it didn't make sense. Like I said now I'm just being cautious as having 2days speaking with my hosting company while my site is down is not fun.

I sell on CB, so mediafire with password might not be the best for automatic downloads

Buy a 1 penny hostgator account and host the Ebooks there (make it separate from your main hosting)

How about ejunkie? First month is free and after that I believe it's $5/month.

Use eJunkie that's the best option you have.
