Some time ago I opened a thread asking people their experience with the companies which are offering free whois along with the domain.

After digging some more here is a list which hopefully you will find useful:

    1. Namesilo
    2. Above.com
    3. Namecheap
    4. Domainmonster - They offer free Whois but I would not recommend them because of the bureaucratic verification steps they might ask you to do.
    5. Internetbs
    6. Cosmotown
    7. Hover.com
    8. Uniregistry.com
    9. namebright.com
    10. Name.com

    NOTES:

    1. Namecheap offers free Whois just for first year. Same for NAME if you use the COUPON "PRIVACYPLEASE".
    2. The best prices can be found at Namebright, Namesilo and Cosmotown
    3. Europeans will pay VAT at Internetbs and DomainMonster. This will make the domains a little expensive.

    Have a nice weekend everyone!

I had a bad experience with DomainMonster, and I advise everyone to avoid them.

Namecheap has always been good to me. But their interface sucks ass when you have a lot of domains.

Such feedback is always important because it helps us as well.
What exact issues you had with them?

Internetbs cheap & more extension choice & great/fast support. Cons: poor interface and they are scare of dmca threatening email.
namesilo cheap & great interface & AUTHY.

erm,why is Namecheap still so popular despite their pricing?

Just a quick update for people who might be interested in this: Cosmotown was fine until they made some changes at the level of their payment system and now they have some ridicolous rules such as: you can pay with a prepaid debit card only if you e-mail them and they will charge the card for you; and even in this case, sometimes things work, something things don't.
