Flippa lets you do an advanced search and choose a PR range.

You can check PR using Google Toolbar, various websites, or standalone scripts.

You can check fake PR if that website info isn't of it. For example domain is aaa.com has PR4, but you think it's fake, just going to www.google.com and type following:

    info:aaa.com or info:www.aaa.com

You will see result, if that's aaa.com or www.aaa.com. It's valid, but if you see another domain, it's mean it's fake.

I heard somewhere that if you just buy a high PR website with like, nothing on it -- the PR goes away... does the PR always stay, even if the ownership changes?

I have never had a domain of mine drop pr at all - if I buy a pr4 domain to sell then I will just use waybackmachine clone the keywords and text and use that for a landing page with adsense or something, that way domain stays indexed while sitting around for a buyer

HOW TO CHECK IF IT's A FAKE PR:

    # Check the domain with fake PR checkers like SEOlogs, CheckPageRank, or RankAlert. Do not use standard PR tools or the Google toolbar.

    # Type the domain into Google (domainname.com) and if another domain comes up in the first result, then the page is being redirected and domainname.com is fake.

    # Use Google's info: operator. In Google type: info:domainname.com . If the site info that is returned doesn't match the site that you searched for, then it's probably faked. Otherwise, it's most likely fine.

    # Check backlinks manually by typing link:www.domainname.com. Go to each site listed, if there is any, and search for the link to www.domainname.com. If you find a site with a link on it, record its PageRank. This procedure is very important since "Fake PageRank Detection Tools" do not check for this.
