Stay away from Gddy, they're icky, you never know if you'll end up accidentally getting upsold. Give internet.bs a try, decent prices and way easier to buy a domain name. (2 min vs 10-15 on gddy.)

If you're going to register a new domain, I'd suggest namecheap.
But if you're looking to buy aged domains, then GoDaddy auctions is the best bet.

The Cheapest company is 1&1 or 1and1.com (.com start 4 US)
But.... the service is too slow

you have to wait around 2 a 3 days for DNS settings

I would rather spend the extra bits of money then deal with 1and1's bullshit

namecheap is pretty competitive but beware server downtime, great customer service.

    what's wrong with 1and1?

I have 3 domains with them. DNS updates usually take less than 24 hours and haven't had any issues yet.

I mean that just to buy a domain name you have to go through about 8 different pages of hassle. They're always trying to charge you more for stuff like private whois, registering your name for longer, adding the .net, .org, adding hosting....you name it.

My time is worth money, and I'd rather spend an extra $3-4 on a domain name than to deal with A the extra 5 min of crap godaddy gives you, and B the absolute hassle if you try to transfer the domain somewhere else.

How much is *your* time worth?

lucky i was just about to buy domain from 1&1 waiting for 2 days for them to approve it if every one in here say they not good i won't use them.
netfirms have cheap price for the domain when buying it in the first year but from then on they charge $12 for renew the domain.
