I have UK webstore with few 'prescription only' products, which i am selling without prescription. UK Government have contacted me asking to remove these. My domain is registred with 123-reg.co.uk and shopping cart is hosted on US server.
Can my domain name registrar company delete or block my domain? If so where do i trasnfer it, where UK Gov have no influence.
My shopping cart company is offering to buy license, so i can host it on my own server or wherever i want. Again question is where?

They could still charge you because you own the domain , if your domain has a uk tld then there is no use changing the registrar .

We're perfect for such sites. Some similar sites already use our services and never had any problems. Domain is a different thing, though. As someone said already, having a .uk extension and the UK government not liking the site can get the domain deleted.

So for anyone planning on getting into that niche, they should be using only .coms? Or does that leave you open to same thing? What tld doesn't give you problems?

Changing domain name means loss of all rankings->customers->income.

you can redirect your domain name to a new one so you wont lose any business + migrate to an offshore host.
for added security you can register the new domain name to a fake name and address and pay for it with a vcc.

well I guess if you redirect, there's no need to use fake name and vcc, will be pretty obvious that he'll be the owner...

With the government on your ass I think the least of your worries is keeping the website running. I don't know about the UK but in the States if the Gov't tells you to take a site down and you ignore them they'll show up with shiny silver bracelets.

I'd be more worried about criminal charges than keeping the site up but that's me; I have a fear of jail.
