On average, when you buy the domain, it then get indexed. Where does it rank? Just wondering as i have started a few, they are not exact keyword domains, but have the keywords in them and are ranking 40-50th ish.

Im hitting niches with aproxx 500,000 results, 25,000-40,000 with quotes. They are not to difficult niches cus the exact keyword domain ranks on all on first page with minimal backlinks!

It mainly depends on the first page competition and on-site SEO.

I realise this but would you say 50th is a good start? Seiing that the exact keyword domains are taken and two of them are on first page with only forum links, profile links etc No more than 20 in total links!

50th is a good start - My latest site indexed at 95 but within about 2 weeks I am at 36

first ranking has pretty much been irrelevant for me personally.

I've had a site that entered around 800 that popped into the top 10 soon after

I've had a site enter at 26 with just the domain and apache placeholder page, only to have it drop to 200 after doing some work on it.

I've had a site enter around 30 and wasn't able to move it past there

(note: I'm actually pretty good with seo, I'm just listing some of my "weird" situations) :)

My first was ranked like 130 in the second day, now my second micro niche site is ranking 78 the first day indexed. I created it yesterday. Hope it can climb from there.

EDIT: I have seeiing different results I think is from my IP, when i check in US I am much lower like 150.

How do you find out what number you are ranked at?

I know there are lots of sites to find out IF you are ranked at all, and other sites which tell you if you are in the top 10 or top 100 or top 1000 but what about us lowly people who have to start much further down the list?

    Thanks!

I've bought Market Samurai which has a built in rank checker, so I can check all my sites with 1 click. But for just doing a quick check, I use:
