Where do you host a site that gets around 5,000 visitors per day?

I'm acquiring one of the largest sites in my portfolio tomorrow. Is a HostGator Business plan good enough to host a site that gets around 5,000 visitors per day on regular days and around 10,000-12,000 visitors/day during peak season months?

Or will I need a dedicated server?

I'm worried about site speed which is obviously why I'm asking this question.

    Thanks in advance.

Definitely go with a dedicated server if you are serious about building a portfolio. Hosting is not an area to skimp on.

Yeah that's a ton of traffic -- and its worth it at that point to get a dedicated server. (or cloud hosting I think... pretty sure that's just as fast?)

Yes this site is a brilliant source of hosting help and information.

Definitely agree. Getting a dedicated server for hosting was one of the best things I have done.

but obviously the best thing for your situation depends on your needs. (Personally I paid someone set up a dedi with cpanel and so on).

Try godaddy, they have some nice plans with unlimited bandwidth.

You invest that much money into a website with so much traffic and wanting to expand. Now is not the time to go
with an out of the box hosting company like hostgator. Go with a dedicated plan and you will not regret it later.

A Dedi for 5K? A half decent VPS would do fine.

Stablehost enterprise, mddhosting semi-dedicated & webfaction.com shared hosting plan is good for this.

Stablehost and mddhosting have cPanel but webfaction have their own control panel (dev friendly). All these hosts have positive consumer feedbacks. They have datacenter at different locations. Contact them before buying.

For even more speed you can use amazon cloudfront/any other reliable cdn.
