i have a blog that's getting about 60-100 uniques/day. i'm still doing work on it to get it ranked and get more traffic. however i've tried to put up some affiliate links and i've gotten some sales so far.

i like this model of monetizing while building. it's easier on the pockets. but i want to learn from you guys where you put your aff links to get the best ctr and conversions.

so far i've added 2 ads on the left sidebar as a text widget and in the footer widget area also as a text widget. i'm getting good conversions with the footer link but i'm not seeing that many clicks. maybe i should put the link directly under the post or maybe in the content under the title?

anyone with experience can point me in the right direction?

any help is much appreciated. thanks

The best converting ones from my experience are those that are placed right into the article

A normal looking link at the very beginning of the article works well,i tested it.Should be on content.Otherwise people will think you are stealing them.you can place your affiliate link above the fold and that's the basic rule

I've always had the best conversion rate with one link at end of 1st paragraph and 1 link at the end of the article. In the content has always worked better than banners for me.

Heatmaps are a great tool to optimize your CTR. I suggest you make use of them. Clicky offers a good one, however I'm sure there are many alternatives.

thanks for all your suggestions. i'll try to put links inside the articles and see how that goes. but adsense links get good ctr even though they're not in the article. in that case what would you recommend and why?

because i have just one banner ad under the post and it's not getting a whole lot of clicks.
