    I've been reading some threads recently about people that are currently marketing and building websites about Casey Anthony.

    I started to think about where I would draw the line, morally speaking, when it comes to what I will promote and market for money. It is very easy to blur the line of what is right and wrong.

    I would never market Casey Anthony, but I can't say that I'm surprised.

    Just out of curiosity, where do you draw the line as an IMer?

    Certainly I wouldn't be put off from creating a short-term site like the ones you talk about which are basically reporting news. Basically if I'm not willing to do something IRL then I'm not willing to do it online. So my line is pretty far away, but there are some dark things I won't do.

    Legal = I'll do it
    Illegal = I won't

    I gotta say Casey Anthony is a pretty shitty niche to be in because it's not directly related to any product (except maybe legal services). You're going to get a broad spectrum of untargeted people on the site, so what the hell do you sell them? Plus, the traffic will be here today and gone tomorrow as media attention moves to the next big thing. Evergreen niches FTW.

    Well I have ewhored before and have sold some pretty nasty items before so the line is pretty far out there for me lol.

    I draw the line when death is involved and I have to much respect for those who have passed then to make a dollar of their name. I remember when michael jackson died people made hundreds of dollars were I couldn't bring myself to use his death to my advantage. Not a fan just respectful.

    Whatever involves someone's death, natural disasters (like Japan or Sumatra), and kiddie porn is where I'd draw the line. And I would not sell my panties either. :p

    Thats a good point- i was just using it as an example from an ethical standpoint. I'm not really sure why those people are using it as a niche....seems ridiculous to try and sell something.

    If there's a LEGAL WAY to monetize an 'idea', then I myself would do it and see what happens!

    With over 308 MILLION PEOPLE in just the U.S. alone (at least according to the 2010 Census), you're bound to stumble upon an idea that is going to only be targeted to a few 1000 people at best...but if those 1000's of people can translate to big time $$$$$...with a little out-of-the-box thinking and HOPEFULLY a small investment to at least 'test the waters'...
    why not go for it?

    But this is just my opinion...yours will vary and thus, your mileage will vary! :)

    kiddie porn is the only thing i can think of right now that i would never ever promote even if it was legal.

    But everything that's legal is fair game. If the media can be hounds why can't we?

    You are absolutely right. Why kick someone why they are down and actively trying to get back on their feet. Lots of money to be made, but I'm sure just as much could be made in another niche.

    I'd definitely agree with this too. I'd much rather promote some filthy degenerate fetish porn than fuck with honest working people.

    I draw the line well before scamming people, I want to provide excellent value for the person on the other side of the deal.

    By doing so I not only help myself achieve my goals, but others along the way as well. While that may seem cheesy and cliche, its true.

    I ABSOLUTELY draw the line at selling my body for hard cash.... Mostly because there were too many refund requests last time.

    I think its hard to say. I move my line if there is enough money in front of it... I would be able to make money off of Casey Anthony, IF it was a hate blog..

    Good idea, someone should do that.. I can think of the perfect CPA offer to promote with this also.

    Can't say I never gave you any idea's! ;)

    The effects of kiddie porn can be monetized,you could write an ebook about how a pedophile can find jesus and stop molesting. You could also write a blog to help parents keep their children safe. Another way is to have a database of people that have been convicted of sex crimes. This way you help kids and make money at the same time. If john walsh and msnbc do it,whts wrong with im'ers doing it. There will always be pedophiles and child porn freaks,why not make money off the fears and effects of them.

    I hate child molesters and i love money,why not combine the two.
