When using proxy app, is the entire computer proxified?

When using proxy app, is the entire computer proxified?

So when I'm using an app like ProxySwitcher, and I'm using SEO Elite, will SEO Elite use the proxy specified in ProxySwitcher or does SEO Elite use my network's IP?

I'm not sure because these apps doesn't explicitly say it puts the entire computer behind the proxy, only browsers.

No, some apps may use the proxy you set it internet explorer due to using ie to fetch data/pages/xml. Generally speaking most apps use a direct connection, and if they are not using IE to get data are not using the proxy. Some apps will have their own proxy settings.

If you use a VPN this will tunnel all your data through the remote network however. This depends on how the networking on the PC and the vpn are set up however.

I cant answer your question directly because i dont know the app...but one thing many people do wrong with vpn or proxy is to resolve dns entrys through proxy vpn too...because they can get you this way if you do something real bad

Use ProxyFirewall (the link is on BHW)....with every program that connects to the Internet, you can decide how you want it to connect (proxy or without).

i would reccomend proxy firewall for what you are looking for if you can find it. I went to their site and it seems to be down however it used to be proxy-firewall.c0m

Also the tool "freecaps" allows to "socksify" programs.
Proxyfirewall looked nice from the screenshots, never tested.

If you want your whole computer proxified you'd something similar to a VPN.
