    Hi guys,

Currently got 2 sites ranked for a number of terms in the top 5 spots on google. These are all deep pages however. Im finding that im almost doing an entire tiered link campaign per page, not per site.

Is this right, or am i doing it wrong?

I rarely link to the homepage of my sites, and instead focus on just the deep pages. My problem though is that im having to manually spin & post articles to my web 2.0's for each new article I wish to rank. Is this a long winded or wrong way to do it?

Should i be linking to my homepage & deep pages using the same keyword, or should i only focus on a set of keywords per page, and stick with those for that 1 page only?

    Thanks

It really comes down to which page you want showing up. In any case, you should always be linking to your home page at least some of the time. Not doing so is seen as un-natural.

I work on a formula that the homepage always has the most links but only just.

Basically my deep linked pages with the most links have only slightly less than the homepage.

The reason I do this is because I believe this is how a natural site would look. Rather than 30000 homepage links and three deep links as this tends not to be how people link to content that they like.

I try to make the links look like a Natural growth pattern even though I'm trying to get deep pages ranked for their keywords.

're-reading that I'm not sure it makes sense.

Out of 1000 hypothetical links 200 homepage, 200 top post, 150 next and so on.

It's not that accurate it's rough.

    Thanks for the posts.

In regards to my tiered link building, am i doing it right?

Lets use a hypothetical example of dog grooming (always seems popular on here) I'll relate it as closely to my site and situation as possible.

My dog grooming site is a branded name - barkhouse.com (fictional)
I then have categories on my site
    Dog food reviews
    Dog Toy Reviews
Tips for training your dog to behave
    Tips for grooming your dog

I do my keyword research and produce the following articles

The top 5 budget dog foods - in the dog food review section
How to bath your dog indoors - in the dog grooming tips section
How to get your dog to kneel on command - in the training your dog to behave section.

I then manually spin 1 article loosely related in each area and post to my 30 web 2.0 platforms. I use exact match keyword, lsi match keyword, brand name of the site, url of the site and a generic terms.

Is this right, or a long winded process?

In my mind you need to repeat the process for every page you want to rank.

With good site structure you will start to get juice through flow to other pages which you have not started linking to yet. And in time the authority of the site should flow.

This is as opposed to these micro niche site's where there only looking for action from one or two keywords and so seem to link the bollocks clean out of the homepage. Which is not what I'm going for and is certainly not what your describing.

Great response. Something just hit me this morning whilst driving and made me think "am i being incredibly stupid and giving myself too much work". I don't know why i thought this, as it seemed like what I have been doing is the right thing to do.

    Thanks

I suppose the key question is, are you getting positive serp movement in the way you want? If you are then your doing it right.

Im happy with the results ive seen so far.

Its now just a case of expanding this to more websites. If i can multiply what i've done by 10, i could earn a low, but full time wage. If i could multiply it or scale it up by 15-20 times the amount, i could have a full time comfortable lifestyle.

    Thanks

    Home Page:
Even if you don't need the homepage ranked, linking to it with brand keywords and naked URLs will help a lot with authority and in turn, rank your inner pages better. Not doing it might raise some red flags.

THanks for this, ive started linking to the homepage with a few money terms (although these are a very small amount, as i dont wan't to take the emphasis away from my deep pages), and im using url variations and brand name variations along with generic terms for the homepage.
