Is it better to harvest from a server and if so please can you add any tips or advice on how best to do this?

I am thinking of using either GSA Spider and/ or scrapebox. These need to be installed on windows so that would limit that server choice.

    Is shared hosting ok?

    Thanks

Shared hosting would probably run into problems. You barely have any CPU or I/O for any serious stuff. A VPS or a dedicated is what you need. Don't worry about getting a windows server. Get a Linux one. Access the remote desktop through VNC. Install Virtualbox or VMware and run as many cracked copies of windows as guest as you like. Cheaper and easier than getting a windows server.

If you are only harvesting from different sources I would not worry about it. Posting on the other hand... Just get some proxies and you will be ok.
