Recently I am wondering a lot. I ranked a few websites for a few keywords before and two-three days after starting link-building (manually high pr web2.0 tier1) I saw the first results. Like the serps were changing totally (going up, going down, disappeared, came back etc. google dance).

But these days it seems like it takes much more time. I have two websites. One with high competition and many M/S and another one with low competition and medium M/S. I started link-building on them about 1-2 weeks ago and I don't see ANY change. Has it something to do with the google update?

Whats your experience nowadays?

With drip fed link placement and in long term safe link building mode, I get visible ranking increase after few weeks. Of course, this depends on niche competition and some other factors. Even for high competitive niches, it usually takes me up to few months to get a site on top Google spots.

YOu have to be patient..I have recently made a site and for about two months no movment at all..All KW where like on 150 place and higher..then suddenly.literally over night most of them went in top 20 so just be patient and dont overdo your linkbuilding..

I just tried experimenting to rank for 10 low difficulty keywords and now most of them (70%+) is already ranking within page 2-3 without any link building.
However, those pages have excellent on page seo.

With a few Web 2.0s and tier 2 links blasting at them, I can predict those keywords will be sitting nicely at page 1 getting free traffic without any expensive or time consuming SEO.

It all depends on the competition of the keyword.

Google is playing the wait game. Have 1 new site which is dancing all over the serp's. Started from #30, then #70, then nowhere for few days, then #150 for 2 days, then gone again. It just returned today at #10. I think the last update is causing so much fluctuations.

What is your criteria for a low competition kw-d?

Some people are saying that creating High Pr Web 2.0s is NOT so effective anymore. What do you think about it?

These days I am confused because of that.
On the 5th May I created High Pr Web 2.0s and one week later I created Tier 2 with GSA on them. I see no results (which seems not normal for me), there is no change. Some keywords didn't even index in the serps. This "strategy" worked pretty well in the last few months, but now it seems different.

You should build other kind of links as well.
