    Hi Friends,

Question: "When does cross linking / Link Sharing hurt your Rankings?"

Suppose you have people within the same industry who want to "Link Exchange" their sites.
I've been reading that cross linking your own sites from the same server----will hurt your rankings in Google.
In what instances will cross linking (or link sharing) sites hurt you?

    1. If the cross links are from the same owner (from a guy who owns several sites that are linked to each other)?
    2. What if the sites are owned by different users....and they share links....will this hurt your rankings too?
    3. Is Google able to recognize that the same server is being used?
    4. ....or do they track it by IP address?

Thank you for your constructive input...
