I'm not talking about straight up fraud, that's not BH, but like when people make a spam thread for the sole purpose of pimping their affiliate link in their sig or to sell something outside BST and having a half-assed way of hiding it, or to try and have people download something that's content locked, or creating dupe accounts so they can vouch for themselves... please feel free to add to the list.

You can't bullshit bullshiters. I've never seen it work here even though I'm sure it works temporary sometimes, but they are outed and embarrassed within the first few replies. You can't try and blatantly game BHW.

Not even getting into the scumbagness of trying to BH the very community that taught it to you, but if you're that pathetic that you can't even get off BHW to use your methods, you're already done in this game..

There's a fine line sometimes though. There are guru wannabes who try and offer generic advice to certain people for the sole purpose of "building a list" of people he can have sign up through his affiliate link for seo services, hosting, some shitty CB product etc. There's the potential of that being mutually beneficial, but if the best service for something doesn't have an affiliate program or it doesn't pay out well, the young grasshopper is getting deceived when he's told to get something else, so the guru can make his cash. Plus these people believe these fake gurus who are often telling them gibberish nonsense.

    *end rant*

I agree but, those who fall for their spammy/scammy/promotional threads deserve it. I like to think it's natural selection, or common sense.

Anyway, the mods will ban them. I can;t remember is name, but a Jr Exec. VIP got banned recently for doing this. So the mods are doign a good job.

I can't say it better :) noticed a big increase of signatures promoting BST services , or affiliates link , its becoming a new DP
Im not against promoting products but common at least add some value to your posts + if your service is good it will get the exposure it deserve , no need for spammy posts , this can work on WF , DP or other IM forums but i doubt it will work here

Even for people who don't fall for it, it still shits up the forum for all of us. Mods do a great job of dealing with it, but from all the morons who get caught straight away pulling this stuff, they're obviously not thinking straight or have the wrong idea.

Maybe some more public awareness helps. I want BHW to be a professional's forum, we're better than most. But if this could be more of a BH version of WebmasterWorld that'd be great.

The bigger issue right now is the ones who are infecting the shares in order to make bank.

There is a lot of it right now, using a script that infects WP installations in order to show CPA stuff and content lockers on the victimns sites to regular users (search engines etc don't see it)

They use higher value/want WP themes and plugins as the bait - maybe claiming they're nulled - just a carrier for the code injection.

As it's a simple curl call, using multiple host domains, it passes right through VT and local AV scans...

I've flagged many recently (other places), including a user here, who the mods dealt with at lightning speed and very efficiently. The mods on here are aware and watching for more as I expect this could be epidemic for a while..

So be careful what you download (mostly WP themes and plugins) - specially from torrents and other sites where they may not be monitoring as well.

If you're unsure if something is safe, just ask for it to be checked..

    Si

It might be too harsh, but simply banning HTML or even text advertising in sigs would erase all those crappy posts made just to spam your sig.

It's a numbers game, the people doing it have no incentive to add value to posts where the only value they get is people seeing their sig. They want to want to put the least amount of thought they can get away with in their posts. Not to say everyone with an ad in their sig does this... a small few would make the same posts regardless of their ad in the sig.

You got me wrong here :) i didn't mean to generalize , i mean i will keep following a lot of user's post like meathead , extremephp, bornformoney , crazyflix ... even with full page ads lol but the problem is with the other low quality post .
Maybe installing a VB mod that will allow banners in signature for members with 300+ Rep or something like that can resolve this !

Some kind of rep or better post number requirement would help. If you're a pro you're not going to spend your time spam posting just for your sig, that'd be a waste of time if you're already making money.

    I understand what you mean.

I personally just use sig-advertisements to try out link building services, instead of buying when they don't work in the long-run. So, why shouldn't you take s.th., when it's for free ;)

Else, BHW is just another place in the internet , thought with a lot of self-minded people. In the end, it's what you make off it.

It might be very obvious for you , but your forgetting the fact that this place is becoming more like DP , there is a bigger flux of noobs coming here. So while it might not work for you ,it will work for like 90% of all people viewing those threads . Maybe you havent notice, but you should take a look more at the threads being opened now a days in bhw, they arent really coming from reputable members but more from newly registered members.

One time I was reading a thread about tactics for making money in Adult Friendfinder. This guy posted in the thread saying that he had a method that earned him $100+ per day or something. He claimed he doesn't want to give the method away to everyone because it will get saturated, so he said to PM him and he will send the material to the first few people. I PM'd him (I knew it probably wasn't legit, but my policy is to investigate every opportunity) He sent me a website link and said that he's only giving it away for free to get some good reviews, and that in two weeks he was going to start charging for access.

The website was a very basic guide to promoting Adult FriendFinder, only containing info that everybody pretty much knows already (make a website, put your affiliate links on it, promote the website with SEO) The whole thing was like "first step is sign up at Adult FriendFinder here [his affiliate link] Now buy some hosting at NameCheap by clicking here [his NameCheap affiliate link]" and so on. He pretty much put an affiliate link anywhere he could.

Wonder if he made any money off that.

True that. Why even try to trick people with their own tricks... won't really work.
