Better said, could it be worth of effort to start own online dating website ? I have similiar idea in my mind for some time, not just casual stuff like filling in personal information and then matching data to others, but something more focused on conversation, a little more funny and easier way to start a chat with mates with background of dating someone.

A lot of similiar sites experience less active users in future, finding ways to monetize, get new users and so on. At first i think about lean development and getting fast feedback. What do u think ? Could it be worth of effort ?

You need something really niche ( unless you have a billionaire backer ).

What about single parent dating ?
    Over 55s dating ?

Something that you're not going to be trying to compete with Match .com etc

Niche is nice idea. There's one big dating site, chat stuff so on, almost everybody who mention that site would tell you something like, oh man just creepy old guys textings, waste of time. Something for youngsters, hanging out..

Yeah you should focus on a specific niche.

Maybe something like a place where people with certain stds can hookup. I think this would be really useful for that audience since, of course, they wouldn't want to spread their disease.

Your approach should be mobile first. Period.

Not saying that you should make an app for it, sometimes even a well-crafted website would do just fine.
But in this day and age, if such a service is not built with mobile as the top priority you are setting yourself up for a major challenge if not a failure.

100% would have to be niche to get off the ground but can be done. Also if you adopt the freemium model you are more likely to gain a decent size database in a shorter amount of time. I know a few smaller systems that are niche that have done fairly well for their size. Actually they got their initial members from some free radio air time. It's a lot of work but if you have a niche community in mind that isn't catered for then it is more than possible. Just takes hard work :)

That's really a great idea. But as above said - you need to choose one niche to start with. For example: People (55+) from US, UK and Australia go to Thailand or similar places. You might like to connect them online before they meet in person. So anything similar to that idea which can be commercialized.

I truly believe, this is a great idea and is the future. You can consider - Facebook, WhatsApp, and many more popular chatting, friends making websites/ apps.

    Good luck.

I am not really sure but with apps like tinder and grindr you nee to have either a great marketing plan, a marginally better idea or have a dedicated following for this to work.

But hey don't let me tell you what you can do. If you apply yourself you might have great results.

As long as your app has a USP, then people will install it. Plus, you can easily advertise it if its a mobile app.
POF entered the market when it was saturated, and they done ok.

I've had an idea that is very necessary that most dating sites don't have til this day, but just never had the investment or partner to take it off the ground. So far I've seen just 2 websites with the idea.

Those 2 niches sound nice. Single parent dating + places to add plenty of info about their kids since that's what is important for them.

Yeah something really niche, something really out of the box like "children".
