After going mostly white hat the past few years I'm building a small PBN for local sites. What are the minimum metrics you go by in order to buy an expired domain? I'm looking DA TF and manually looking at them.

I've been wondering why a lot of domains have a high DA, but then you look at the bank links and there aren't a lot of good links. I've come to the conclusion that some of the links have been removed over the past several months but DA is either not updated or they don't adjust DA once a link is removed so the DA appears higher than it should be.

For my personal use i will go with TF 20+ and RD 20+ if it got backlinks from authority sites its plus and make sure its not comment and profile backlinks. Plus also history and anchors texts.

I haven't used TF much in the past, but starting to make use of it more. I found some local links with good backlinks from newspaper, gov, etc, yet TF is around 10. They don't have a ton of links but still found it odd to be so low when I don't see any low quality links.

In general TF 20+ and RD 15+, but TF and DA does not tell the whole story as some domains with TF 15 with few links might be alot stronger than a domain with TF 20+ so yes also check the backlinks and your TF 10 site with gov and newspaper links i would add to my network.

    Depends on your budget.

I go for 20+ DA 15+ TF and 50+ RD with multiple links from high authority sites.

Usually cost $60-$75 per domain depending on who I buy them from.

Because honestly, most of the domain with low metrics are actually authentic and don't have bad signals.

    Good to know, thanks.

I've found over 100+ so far, and this is one niche.

I'm willing to bet you that 99% of those domains are not clean. And I'm not talking about anchor text or archive. There are more ways to check.

I've removed most the shitty ones already. There's still a few in there but 80% of them are clean. The ones with DA19+ I'll look into better, but I bet half of them are no good. I don't use expired domain sites to find my domains, anything decent there that's available always has a bad history.

Could you tell me how do you manage to find those? I'm having no luck with Expireddomains and domcop is highly competitive.

That's like asking what is your pin number for your atm. No ones going to tell you but there is software that can do some of the manual labor you just have to thoroughly go through each domain.

I shared this via PM and thought it would be beneficial to those in this thread as well:

You may think I'm nuts but I'm not overly concerned with the metrics as much as I am with the actual links to the domain and the history of the domain. If I like what I see there I'm fine and work with the site. Two reasons I do that are that the metrics may change with some kind of Google Algo change as they are wack and the other is that I don't want G to see just strong high DA domains pointing at my site. I like to have a little camouflage SEO there as well.

Another thing I do for local sites is try and find local expired domains or domains with links from local papers and such; they don't have to be exact city but they do have to be regional at least as that is natural in my opinion as well.

    Referring domains

OP - look at the link profile, I buy PBNs with links from big names like huffpo, bbc, examiner etc - TF/DA etc can simply be inflated by the seller with their own hidden PBNs/301s. Make sure all of the pages are indexed, too. G is a bitch for indexing since April this year, and if it's dropped out, it'll struggle to get back in the index without some serious firepower and no one wants to spam/blast their PBN domains unless they know what they're doing.

Edit, B2B beat me to it.

Tha'ts what I've been doing with local links as well.
And I agree with metrics. I've seen sites with low TF/CF but some very nice looking links to the site same thing with DA/PA. Then I've seen the opposite, high DA/PA or TF/CF and barely any links.
    Here's an example:
    www.barrysolar.com
    TF/CF: 26/25
Just needs more links. But I've come across sites with links from newspapers and gov sites and TF is 10 or under (as mentioned above).

I bet I'm well aware how to tell if a domain is clean or not. I've built PBNs before 99% of people knew what they were.
