I was wondering I've build now some websites /businesses and first off I always start with applying for all business directories I can find and writing down my addres. First I thought yes this should work but my main finding was that it wasnt that important really and when doing SEO for a new client I saw no changes in their serps at all. is there anyone who has some experience with this? Im from the Netherlands btw.

on my experience based on listing in business directories quality overdo quantity it is completely based on the Niche you belong to and Location you specify.

and these will benefit you in long term basis only so wait patience to gain rank.

Years ago I owned a Business Directory site (back when PR was a metric) and we got a fair amount of people posting in there.

At that time those links were pretty low level and just "presence" links.

I'm sure that has deteriorated as Google knows those sites are really spam sites for business owners 91% of the time.

Not worth the effort in my opinion.

What would you consider good links from websites you can apply too?

I own very niche business directory and it gives my clients a good push. So make sure it is very niched.

Business directories are a bit outdated but can still serve as a decent base for local SEO. However, they are not heavyweights for promotion in SERPs. In the Netherlands, target authoritative directories relevant to your region and niche. They tend to carry more weight.

I remember. I too had a directory like you describe. Was only good for selling advertising spots.

Backlinks from business directories can be beneficial for improving a website's SEO, especially if the directories are reputable and relevant to your industry. However, the impact of directory backlinks on SEO has diminished over time due to changes in search engine algorithms. It's essential to focus on quality over quantity and prioritize directories that are reputable, have high domain authority, and are relevant to your business niche.
