What’s your current approach to indexing new content?

I have noticed that some new pages get indexed fairly quickly, while others can sit for days or even weeks despite being submitted through Search Console.

Curious what’s working for everyone in 2026. Are you mainly relying on internal linking and natural discovery, or any other methods that have consistently helped with fast indexing?

Google recommends sitemaps for discovery, but in my experience I wouldnt rely on them alone for fast indexing. Proper internal linking has been much more useful for getting new pages discovered quickly, especially when the links come from relevant, already crawled pages.
Sitemap helps Google find the url, internal links help show that the page actually matters.

You want Google to find your urls via internal or external backlinks - using a sitemap gives them no context at all. You'll get fewer 'Crawled - currently not indexed' or 'Discovered - currently not indexed' instances if your internal linkage is on point.

Internal links have helped me out a lot i always ensure that new pages get added to the sitemap and linked within indexed pages as well i have seen that having good site architecture has helped Google find my content faster.

I don't even use GSC for submission anymore... I use an indexing tool and I get indexed consistently and pretty quickly.

But I always make sure I have everything on point with the post before I submit it for indexing and that mostly has to do with proper internal linking for the most part.

And since I have my site on WordPress, I use @Topiano IndexToast plugin, which automatically picks up posts and pages immediately after you publish them.

So far, so good... I have no issue with indexing whatsoever.

Mostly internal linking and a clean sitemap.

Search Console helps, but submitting every URL doesn’t guarantee fast indexing. If the site has decent crawl history and the new page is actually useful, Google usually picks it up naturally.

I’ve found internal linking and strong crawlable pages to be the most reliable for faster discovery.

A few natural backlinks and good sitemap coverage also help but I wouldn’t rely too much on repeated Search Console submissions.

In addition, I would take into consideration crawlability, sitemap updates, orphans, and how much value the page can have to be indexed it may be a problem of its quality and discovery, rather than indexing.

You can try some indexing tools if its not indexed even if you submitted in search control. I would recommend Omega Indexer tool which works better. But no tools gives you 100% assurance for indexing.

i usually rely on strong internal linking a clean sitemap and making sure the new page is easy for google to discover from established pages search console helps with submitting important URLs but i wouldn’t keep resubmitting repeatedly if google hasn’t indexed them yet

For new content, I’d submit it in Search Console, keep the sitemap updated, and add a few internal links from already indexed pages. That usually works better than forcing it with indexers.

If some URLs sit for days, I’d check which GSC status they’re actually stuck in before trying another indexing method. “Discovered – currently not indexed” means Google knows about the URL but hasn’t crawled it yet, so I’d look more at crawl paths, internal links and whether Googlebot is getting clean responses

Just proper internal linking to older posts that are already indexed
This one works for an established site. Way to go!

For the new blog, I'm still having some difficulties indexing, as no tool is perfect. Still trying every tool one by one.

Thanks for some recommendations in this thread. will try those as well.

For me, internal linking has been the most consistent factor, especially when new pages are linked from strong, frequently crawled pages. I also focus on keeping the content useful and updating important pages, rather than relying too heavily on manual indexing requests.

I usually focus on internal linking first and make sure the page is included in the sitemap. I’ve found that giving Google a clear path from existing pages is more useful than repeatedly submitting the URL in GSC.

Indexing services help a lot, but lately even expensive ones don’t guarantee 100% index inclusion, so cheap and expensive services are practically on par.

I usually don’t rely on Search Console submission alone. Strong internal linking is probably the first thing I’d check, especially from already indexed, relevant pages. and another one important is placing the URL into the XML sitemap.

I use incremental indexing to process and add new content to the search index as soon as it’s published.
