India is a really cheap place to live and I'm just loving being an IM'er In India.

I own like 2 Desktops - running all day, night.. 1 Ac and few other high voltage appliances and my entire household's monthly bill never crosses $60...

    So Whats your Magic Number?

i can safely say that with the current crisis in Greece , 300 euro per month for a 50cm house is a bit expensive to live !

I think with respect all the posters are Internet folks based in India - so they make money online so they simply use an Indian ISP for net access hence on that basis they are on a level playing field for making $10 bucks - just as good a chance as someone say based in Europe - USA et al

8 to $10 a month after using laptop for 20 hours, TV for 10 hours and other home appliances running. If it was in Delhi the bill would have surely reached $60 a month

I stay in government qtrs so its cheap here and in Goa everything is cheap.. not to forget 57 Rs per litre petrol

I am staying in two places and here are my bills. 1100 RS. (Satara) and 2000RS (Pune). By the way thinking about using the Solar panels for water heating and also for minor power for some places. Demo from the company was good. Thinking about saving money that way. It's just not worth paying this much bill provided I do face power out of 1-3 hours once in while.

I live in a small town, that's why we pay less as electricity charge is less in rural areas.

I have got an office with 7 Dell Vostros, Synology DiskStation DS212+, HP ProLiant DL580 G7 Server and 3 ACs. Some of them work 24x7 and rest approx 14 hours a day. Power bill ranges between $400 to $600 and i find it economical as compared to phenomenal output i generate from the hardware. I think my part of India has the costliest electricity charges per unit across India.. i guess its Rupees 13/unit. Good side is, it is always uninterrupted and power never goes off as compared to other parts of my country.

Nipun I will call BS on that. Where on earth did you find a 3 floor villa for Rs. 2000?
To others who are not from India, here is what you have to pay to live a good life

In a suburb of a metropolitan city in India

    1. 3 Bed room house or apartment of 1350 Sq. feet to 1500 sq.feet in a good neighborhood costs about Rs. 30,000 or $545 or more.
    2. Electricity bill is Rs. 4.50 to Rs. 5.50 per kilo watt unit. I pay about Rs. 4500 per month or $81.00
    3. Include fuel costs, petrol or gasoline is Rs. 76.14 per liter or $1.38
    4. Food cost for my family of four including one small infant is about Rs. 15,000 or $272 approximately
    5. Eating out for 2 costs extra and is about Rs. 3000 to Rs. 4000 in a good restaurant $72.00 including alcohol.
    6. Internet is about $50 to $60 for a decent connection.
    7. If you have children who go to a good school it costs about $545 to $1100 per year.
    8. Miscellaneous expenses comes to Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 12,000 per month (for my household) $218
    9. Phone calls are super cheap, call charges to anywhere in India is Rs. 1.00 / minute or $0.01 cents / minute

    We rarely have power problems.

So total comes to $1176 (excludes eating out, petrol, phone calls, domestic help) per month. If you have your own house, the cost is almost half.
